STYLEN TAKISADA-OSAKA CO., LTD. (Headquarters: Naniwa-ku, Osaka; Representative Director and President: Ryuta Taki; hereinafter referred to as "STYLEN") has partnered with Hankyu Hanshin Express Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Osaka; Representative Director and President: Kazuhiro Tanimura) and Hankyu Hanshin Logi Partners Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Osaka; Representative Director and President: Takeshi Tsuda) to promote logistics reform. Together, the three companies have developed an innovative "variable transport rack" to improve delivery efficiency in the textile industry.
Joint delivery utilizing the variable transport rack will commence in February 2025.
■Background and Objectives
In response to the deepening driver shortage, the "2024 problem" (application of regulations on maximum working hours), and the social challenge of reducing environmental impact, the three companies have closely collaborated to build a new delivery model.
■Key Initiatives and Expected Effects
1. Introduction of Variable Transport Racks
We will develop and introduce variable transport racks that can adjust in length and height to suit the characteristics of fabric rolls. This innovative rack eliminates wasted loading space caused by differences in fabric roll specifications and significantly improves loading efficiency, thereby reducing the number of trucks needed.
2. Streamlining Delivery with the Milk Run System
We will introduce a "milk run system" with an efficient delivery design. This will enable optimal delivery routes to multiple destinations, reducing the number of deliveries and thus reducing CO2 emissions.
3. Improving Cargo Handling Efficiency
By establishing a system for variable transport racks, we aim to improve cargo handling efficiency, shorten truck waiting times, reduce driver working hours, and alleviate the burden on workers.
Through these three initiatives, we will establish a sustainable logistics system, achieving logistics efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
■Evaluation from Logistics Sites
Logistics sites where trials have already been conducted have provided the following feedback:
・There is no longer a need to retrieve fabric rolls from the truck.
・Work has been significantly streamlined as it only requires transferring to our own pallets.
・The burden on workers has been greatly reduced.
■Future Developments
This initiative, as a project contributing to logistics efficiency and environmental impact reduction, received certification for its comprehensive efficiency plan under the "Act on the Promotion of Comprehensive and Efficient Logistics Operations (Logistics Comprehensive Efficiency Act)" on December 3, 2024.
This logistics reform is a groundbreaking project achieved through the cooperation of the three companies. Moving forward, we will further develop this initiative and contribute to society and the environment by solving logistics challenges.
