Since our founding in 1864, we have remained deeply aligned with the evolving lifestyles and aesthetic sensibilities of each era, consistently sustaining new ways of living through textiles. We will continue to weave the future.


















From Founding to the Establishment of Takisada GMK
In 1864, Sadasuke Taki inherited the trade name “Kinuya Sadasuke” from his grandfather, Taki Hyoemon II (Ryoi), and began operating as a wholesaler of kimono fabrics.
Takisada GMK Era
In 1906, Takisada GMK was established, and the Osaka Branch was opened simultaneously. In 1932, it integrated the Osaka Branch Domestic Trade Division into the Kyoto Branch, making the Osaka Branch exclusively responsible for trade operations.
From the Establishment of Takisada Co., Ltd. to Postwar Reconstruction
In 1946, the company restarted operations under a new management team. It firmly rejected the black-market trading then widespread, maintained legitimate business operations, and overcame postwar difficulties by handling goods not subject to controls.
High Economic Growth and Management Innovation
In 1958, the Osaka Branch, followed by the head office, carried out sweeping management reforms. In 1964, the company celebrated its 100th anniversary.
Establishment of Modern Wholesale Management
In 1975, total sales across all offices surpassed 100 billion yen. The company declared that assuming market risk was the core function of a wholesaler.
Evolution into a Comprehensive Textile Trading Company
In 1985, total sales across all offices surpassed 200 billion yen. The company established the Knit Apparel Fabric Section within the Osaka Branch Print Division.
Management Reform and the Establishment of a Global Foundation
In 2010, the company exhibited at Première Vision in New York and Paris for the first time. In 2011, it transitioned from the Business-Unit-Based Independent Management System to a divisional organizational structure.
Transformation Toward New Value Creation
In 2021, the company defined and articulated its corporate philosophy, including its Mission, Vision, Values, 8 Spirits, and Slogan. It also established its Sustainability Policy and five material issues. In 2022, it articulated its corporate purpose.
