UNIDYNE XF series is a hydrocarbon-based water repellent for textiles developed by Daikin Industries, Ltd. (Daikin), with over 50% of it constituting bio-based materials. STYLEM collaborates with Daikin to develop products ranging from woven fabrics and jerseys to lifestyle materials using this hydrocarbon-based water repellent agent. These products are characterized by their ability to maintain high water repellency while maintaining the original hand feel of the fabric.
Bio-Based Materials Gaining Traction as an Option
Until now, water-repellent agents containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have been widely used in many products requiring water repellency. However, currently, there is growing social concern about the use of PFAS, with discussions on regulating them taking place mainly in Europe and the United States.
UNIDYNE XF series is a water-repellent agent that uses over 50% bio-based raw materials. The use of bio-based materials contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions during waste incineration. Due to these characteristics, it has attracted attention from global sports and apparel brands.
